Black Silicon Carbide Powder and Grain for Refractory Abrasive Material
Product Description

Black Silicon Carbide Powder and Grain for Refractory Abrasive Material
Black Silicon Carbide Powder and Grain for Refractory Abrasive MaterialThe contemporary process for producing silicon carbide for use in abrasives, metallurgy, and refractory applications remains largely unchanged from the method pioneered by Acheson. This process involves combining pure silica sand with carbon, sourced from finely ground coke, which is then layered around a carbon electrode within a brick-lined, electric resistance furnace. An electric current is passed through the electrode, triggering a chemical reaction where the carbon from the coke and the silicon in the sand fuse to create SiC and carbon monoxide gas. A single furnace operation can span several days, with internal temperatures ranging from 2,200°C to 2,700°C (4,000°F to 4,900°F) at the core, dropping to around 1,400°C (2,500°F) at the periphery. Each run consumes over 100,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. Upon completion, the yield is a core of green to black SiC crystals, loosely interwoven, encircled by raw materials that may be only partially or fully transformed. The resulting mass is then crushed, ground, and sifted into various sizes tailored for specific industrial uses.

Silicon carbide for steelmaking deoxidation and casting
Silicon carbide is a compound composed of carbon and silicon mainly combined by covalent bonds. It is a non-oxidizing material. Because it exhibits significant instability in high-temperature oxidizing atmospheres, the oxidation reaction proceeds rapidly especially when the temperature exceeds 1627°C. Its characteristics can be used to replace ferrosilicon and carburizing agents in the process of smelting ordinary carbon steel and some low alloy steels in converters and electric furnaces to deoxidize, heat and increase silicon and carbon in molten steel to achieve the purpose of reducing steelmaking costs. , achieved better results. Among them, the most commonly used quality is concentrated at 80%-95%, and the particle sizes are mainly 0-10mm, 0-5mm, 1-3mm, and 1-5mm (mostly used in casting).
Application Direction Silicon Carbide  Description
Sandblasting and engraving black generally purchase F36, F46, and the content requirement is about 97.5-98%; for export orders, the content requirement is between 98-98.5%. Such materials have hardness and cleanliness requirements.
Grinding wheel and sandpaper black generally 46#-90#, the grinding wheel uses F standard; the sandpaper uses P standard.
Brake pads black generally use CF500# and CF600# materials.
Furnace wall coating black generally uses 97% 325mesh.
Abrasives black Customers purchase products concentrated in coarser grades than F220, with F46, F60, and F80 performing better.
